한재민을 들으며 그만의 또다른 세계로 빠져듭니다 우리나라에 이토록 빼어난 연주자가 있는걸 오늘이라도 알게되서 기쁘네요

Jacqueline du Pre & Daniel Barenboim - Elgar Cello Concerto
Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85, his last notable work, is a cornerstone of the solo cello repertoire. Elgar composed it in the aftermath of the First World War, when his music had already gone out of fashion with the concert-going public. In contrast with Elgar's earlier Violin Concerto, which is lyrical and passionate, the Cello Concerto is for the most part contemplative and elegiac.
The first performance was a debacle because Elgar and the performers had been deprived of adequate rehearsal time. The work did not achieve wide popularity until the 1960s, when a recording by Jacqueline du Pré caught the public imagination and became a classical best-seller.

Celia Wight : I am old enough to remember hearing this at the time. I was 16y and felt I had been hit hard in the chest. I am now 79 and it still has the same effect on me. Magic.
Simon Wiggins : I cannot listen to this without crying. There are uplifting counters but I hear unspeakable, aching pain, grief and loss. It hurts. It's incredibly moving. Du Pre is unsurpassable.
Christopher Davis : This is the piece that made me want to play the cello. I received my cello 2 days ago on June 1st. I am 14 and I will be using all of my free time to practice and hopefully become a professional.
lisaro : It’s like she was a psychic medium, using her cello and artistry to connect directly with Elgar. Never before or since has anyone managed to capture the very essence of Elgar like Du Pre. He was present in the room with her from the opening bar to the closing pause. Every note she played was a celebration of him and every second of the performance was a celebration of her mastery, skill and artistry. Breathtaking.

Maria Hedley : I had the luck to know him and his entire family since they were little kids and I had the privilege to listen to their music in very private exhibitions. I can tell you that they are not just talented musicians but also extraordinary people. So ... WELL DONE to their wonderful parents and a “BRAVO” to Sheku.
Shanna Ellis : And this my friends is why you should absolutely not cancel music programs in schools, why it's so important to pay attention to young people with musical talent and cultivate it, and why it is so important to continue to expose kids to classical music.
eMBo twentyfour : You can see the divots in the fingerboard from countless hours of practicing. One of the most beautiful and elegant cello concerti.
Frank Wang : This is not only a difficulty piece technically, it is a piece so emotionally difficulty to play it. The First World War made Elgar so sad and his music told us about this, but a young man like Sheku understands Elgar's emotion thruogh his music and thruogh his own playing to convey composer's feelings to us. This is quite a remarkable achievement. I personnally moved by his playing. It is not easy for any one to play Elgar's this piece. Sheku did a fantastic job!
